I’ve been threatening to ditch Windows for Years, and It’s Done! Well sort of. I say sort of, because, I gave several computers, a couple dedicated mini’s (One running windows monitoring security cameras, another running Home Assistant), 2 old laptops running windows but rarely used, One Windows XP Desktop loaded with tons of old games from the hay-day of PC Gaming. And then I have my Primary Computer “Beast”, She has just been rebuilt with Zorin 18 Pro. Which is a Ubuntu 24.04 OS from Ireland.
So yes, I’ve ditched Windows as my Main/Primary Machine. Having made the Call, I feel it is appropriate to commit to fin finding, and learning, those programs I left Behind, The big on for me has been the Video Recording, and editing for YouTube Video’s. And, honestly I believe my solution in Linux is is a better overall solution; And I can say this after only making 3 video’s. I have replacements for most things I use, though I will miss Paint,Net (PDN). So far I’ve been able to get the Job Done using GIMP. All this style of graphic editing have steep learning curves!
As for my development efforts, I have committed to rewriting ClassBuilder, If I cannot get it working properly. I successfully converted the GUI yesterday, but is is running VERY Sluggish, Database IO seems sporadic and Slow. Hopefully I’ll bring her back online today. If so, Ill release a LINUX version. Much of the Code I’ve written has been for windows and has specific Windows API Calls, Going forward I’ll try a more generic approach, like with the New FormProcess application for the Built In Form Designer in PureBasic, where I can release Source you are free to compile it using your own OS and all should be well.
